When I first conceived the idea of utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a creative tool for painters and artists, a debate was already raging about the potential threat of AI replacing humans in various fields, including art. Some believed that AI might surpass human abilities, including artistic creation, others argued it could never have human sensitivity, emotion and spirituality and would remain soul-less and thus posed no threat. The potential and talk of threats sparked my curiosity about AI and Art.
I have devoted a large part of my life travelling through over 40 countries and hundreds of cities in the last 30 years in museums and art galleries of the world to the discovery and appreciation of art.
I am not a painter myself but as an engineer, entrepreneur and innovator I wanted to bring the latest technology to artists and see what magic they might create.
I embarked on a mission to prove that human creativity and imagination are unparalleled and that AI could never truly replicate the depth and soul of human artistic expression. I saw AI not as a competitor but as a powerful tool that could elevate the creativity of artists to new heights. My journey was driven by a desire to demonstrate that, when used in the hands of creators and artists, AI could amplify their abilities and not diminish them.
Drawing inspiration from the great impressionist masters like Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Paul Cezanne, I set out to train AI algorithms on their techniques, particularly in the context of urban landscapes.
My intention was to bring to infuse the influence of great impressionist masters of the 19th century through AI to contemporary painters and artists.
I started with a photographic expedition in Oslo over three years. Part of this period was a Pandemic lockdown when it was permitted to walk the city solo. I made the best use of this opportunity and got to see the modern city where its buzz was on pause. As the city stood empty, I saw the opportunity to observe it from various vantage points, capturing its essence in hundreds of mesmerizing images. My goal was to weave these visual fragments into a symphony of impressionist digital art where the modernity of 21st-century Oslo harmoniously blended with its natural environs and its living history.
Through this creative process, I carefully ensured that the AI algorithms were not trained on works by Norwegian masters like Edward Munch. My aim was not to create replicas but to evoke the joy and awe that a visitor experiences when discovering Oslo’s beauty. Of great Impressionist masters only Claude Monet visited Norway in 1895 for a short stay that was marred by severe cold weather. He yet managed to paint several snowscapes, at least six of them in Sandvika. I used AI to imagine how an impressionist master would time travel and see modern day Oslo.
The outcome was astonishing and I created 28 pieces of digital art I felt great joy and satisfaction. I used commands and prompts to AI as brush strokes. This digital art was personally satisfying but it was still digital, fleeting and it needed artistic spirit and soul to come alive and become timeless.
I was determined to push the boundaries further. I presented the artworks to several contemporary painters who shared a love for impressionist art. From the moment they lay their eyes on the AI-generated digital art and heard the concept they were besotted. We merged my digital creations with their brushstrokes, infusing the pieces with their unique artistic styles and sensibilities. This union of AI and traditional art resulted in a harmonious symphony of creativity, a testament to the profound impact that technology can have when it serves as an ally to human ingenuity.
In conclusion, “Impressionists in Oslo” is not just a collection of stunning artworks; it is a testament to the enduring power of human creativity and imagination. AI can complement and augment the artistic process, but it can never come close to replicating the depth and soul that humans infuse into their creations. Let us embrace AI as a powerful ally, elevating our creativity to even greater heights and unlocking untold possibilities in the realm of art and beyond.

I discovered my passion for painting late. At first, I thought it was merely a magical coincidence, but over time I realized that painting was in my genes. My grandfather was an exceptional artist, and it seemed that his artistic abilities had been transferred to me and could not lay unawakened.
Fate led me to attend a masterclass by the renowned marine artist Dmitry Roza, which marked a rapid breakthrough in my artistic development and the realization of my creative ideas.
I continued my artistic journey under the guidance of esteemed artists such as Vugar Mamedov, Gennady Zhivotov, and the talented Elizaveta Zalegina. I draw inspiration from the works of great masters from various epochs and styles, including Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Ivan Aivazovsky, and the esteemed artist Georgia O’Keeffe. The styles of Impressionism, Modernism, and partially Art Deco resonate with me deeply.
My paintings are meant to be understood and embraced by a wide audience, instilling a sense of tranquility and relaxation. They offer strength to those who face numerous stressful situations in life. They are a relief, not an escape, a soothing balm on a stressed out mind so to say. Sometimes, a mere five minutes of contemplating beauty and meditating on a piece of art can set the stage for clarity through complexity and fog.
To me painting is a unique tool for harmonizing myself and transmitting that harmony to others. Every day, I make an effort to contemplate beauty, tune into my inner world, and listen to my intuition to make prompt and collected decisions in life, fostering a sense of unity with myself and the world around me.
My works have been featured in numerous international exhibitions. 7 years ago I embraced art fully as my lifestyle and started my journey as an art teacher, and it has been a passion that engulfs me. Witnessing the progress of my students, both offline and during online classes, fills me with joy. They spread their wings after my lessons and create high-level masterpieces, some of which they even sell.

My intention is to orchestrate a harmonious interplay of vibrant hues and strokes, conjuring a specific impression that I wish to communicate to my audience.
What sets my work apart is the intangible ambiance I infuse into each piece, as though they were illustrations to untold stories. Beholders are invited into a world of mystery, a narrative left open to their own interpretations. It's this enigmatic allure that draws people to my paintings, coaxing them to delve deeper into the emotions and narratives that these artworks seem to softly impart.

Since my earliest childhood, I’ve always felt a magnetic pull towards the world of art. Those school days were filled with wins in drawing competitions, and my artistic talent was impossible to miss. But as life went on, my passion for art took a back seat while I pursued studies in agriculture at university.
Life, as it often does, had different plans for me. It guided me into the realm of television. Seeking a respite from the bustling pace of television life, I stumbled upon my old flame: painting. It became my haven, a therapeutic outlet that rekindled my creative fire. Slowly, the enchanting realm of painting unfurled its wonders before me, guiding me towards a fresh journey of self-discovery.
In 2015, I completed my studies at the “SHAD School of Architecture and Design,” focusing on “Academic Drawing and Painting.” A couple of years later, I found myself diving into the world of graphic art, immersing myself in pen and ink drawing courses. After years of exploring ink, tempera, and watercolors, an irresistible urge led me to embrace oil painting as my chosen medium of expression. Today, I’m an active participant in online painting competitions and exhibitions organized by the Eurasian Art Union.
My greatest joys and wellsprings of inspiration lie in the realm of classical painting. The lofty ideals brought to life by the luminaries of the High Renaissance, the profound mystical narratives woven by the Pre-Raphaelites, and the delicate play of light and emotion crafted by the Impressionists – these elements capture my artistic gaze. Yet, I also find myself deeply moved by the diversity of styles and movements within the world of art.
My creative perspective has been profoundly shaped by the great masters who have come before me. The likes of Raphael Sanzio, Peter Paul Rubens, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Joaquin Sorolla, Roman Tyrtov (Erte), Valentin Serov, and Alexander Ivanov have left an indelible imprint on my artistic journey.
In my paintings, a graphic precision takes center stage. My brushstrokes are concise, colors play in striking contrast, and select details carry a stylized essence. These elements blend together to form a decorative interpretation of the subject at hand. My intention is to orchestrate a harmonious interplay of vibrant hues and strokes, conjuring a specific impression that I wish to communicate to my audience.

I always harbored a deep love for painting and devoted my time to exploring its wonders. The canvases I created in my early years hold a special place in my heart, acting as nostalgic mementos of the beginning of my artistic journey.
Yet, life often takes unexpected turns, leading individuals to discover their true calling in an entirely different realm. It was only years after completing medical school and practising medicine that I found myself drawn back to the world of painting. Embracing this newfound passion, I embarked on a path to become a professional artist, seeking guidance from seasoned painters while nurturing my skills through self-education. Eventually, I completed an intensive Course in Oil Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, further honing my craft.
Participation in various exhibitions, including international showcases, became an integral part of my artistic journey. The recognition for my work was evident as I achieved first-place and accolades in international competitions. My art also found its way into the pages of art magazines. As a member of the Eurasian Union of Artists, I felt a sense of belonging to a community that shared my passion for art.
My paintings have found homes in private collections, their presence a testament to the connection I establish with viewers through my art. I hold a profound appreciation for classical painting, considering it the foundation upon which an artist can mature professionally and later explore diverse genres.
At present, the Impressionist style holds a special place in my heart, with its textured and sensual approach allowing me to express a myriad of emotions and sentiments that I pour into each artwork. For me, art is more than just a visual spectacle—it is a form of art therapy, a medium through which I can infuse positive energy and emotions into the lives of those who admire my work.

As an Aeronautical Engineer art was farthest from my profession but closest to my heart.
I was educated as an Aeronautical and Rocketry Engineer and had planned to live a professional life as an aircraft design engineer. I also learned various programming languages and mastered the design of complex systems across different fields of expertise. The world of programming languages fascinated me, and the possibilities of artificial intelligence tantalized my curiosity.
Yet, the child in me, who had once filled the margins of all school workbooks with sketches and drawings, also beckoned me to explore other realms.
As I climbed the professional ladder as an engineer and team leader, I couldn’t ignore the other calling from within. A constant voice urged me to explore the metaphysical and deepen my practice of yoga, to perceive the universe through meditation and the inner eye, beyond the limitations of physical objects and pure rationale.
As I started to have greater responsibilities at work, Tango entered my life, ultimately playing a role in liberating me. I succumbed to my passions and inner voice and eventually left my profession to teach yoga and throw myself in art forms of dance, music and painting.
The triad of science, yoga, and dance empowers me to transcend the boundaries of thought, embrace the flow of life, and connect with the authentic desires of my soul. Yoga, in particular, serves as a guiding light on my spiritual path, granting me a broader philosophical perspective on myself and life.
My unyielding passion for painting led me to frequent museums and art exhibitions. Impressionism and abstraction hold a special place in my heart, captivating my artistic senses.

Furthermore, I have spent many years creating systems based on AI. As technological progress advances exponentially, AI now extends its influence not just to technology or algorithms of applications and games but also to the realm of artistry. The prospect of merging the magical processes of artistic creation with AI thrills me to the core.
A few years ago, I started taking painting lessons from artists and teachers. This reignited my love for the world of painting and provided me with opportunities to connect with many talented artists.
