For 18 years Weronika Olena Marczuk  has led the Friends of Ukraine registered charity TPU in uplifting the lives of women and children in Ukraine and creating better human & cultural relations between Ukraine and Poland.

Within days of the invasion of Ukraine TPU began to organize humanitarian aid on a much larger scale. Within a few days, a network was established to send humanitarian convoys, provide assistance to orphaned children, transport refugees to safe zones, provide temporary housing bases and provide basic needs. A call centre was set up so that any Ukrainian refugee could get information in their native language. Volunteers’ phones rang non-stop. TPU created divisions for providing accommodations, urgent needs, transportation, collections, humanitarian convoys, relief convoys, legal advice, and psychological assistance on a large scale.

Thousands of tons of products, clothes, and medicines from Poland and abroad passed through TPU warehouses to the needy. Several orphanages were evacuated to Poland; Residencies were organized for artists in Poland and abroad; Special care was provided to pregnant women and on many occasions TPU volunteers transported women in labour to hospitals, arranging for them and their children to be cared for during and after childbirth.
